Thomas C. Patton, B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D.
CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD
Dr. Patton graduated from the University of Washington in 1971 (Ph.D.) and has worked in the exploration industry for over forty years as a field geologist, consultant and executive officer of both junior and senior mining companies. His work has been primarily in North America, where he and his teams have played major roles in several significant discoveries and reserve expansions of existing operations. Before joining Quaterra on a full-time basis, Tom was President and COO of Western Silver Corporation from 1998 to May 2006. The highlights of this period were the discovery and delineation of the world-class Peñasquito silver-gold-lead-zinc deposit in Zacatecas, Mexico, and the subsequent sale of the company to Glamis Gold Ltd.
Steven Dischler, P.E.
PRESIDENT & CEO, DIRECTOR
Mr. Dischler has 32 years of experience in the mining and natural resources sector. Prior to being promoted to President and CEO, Mr. Dischler was VP and General Manager for Quaterra’s operations in Yerington, Nevada. Mr. Dischler has held senior leadership positions in consulting and industry with expertise in developing and permitting major projects. He has been involved with the permitting and development of several major mining projects in the U.S., including the underground sulfide Crandon Mine in Wisconsin, the underground nickel copper Eagle Mine in Michigan and the open pit Flambeau copper mine in Wisconsin. Mr. Dischler has a B.S. degree and M.S. degrees in mining engineering from the University of Wisconsin and University of Arizona, respectively. He is a registered professional engineer and has been a member of the Society of Mining Engineers since 1979.
Michael A. Berry, Ph.D.
Dr. Berry is a respected economic and investment strategist. He served as a professor of investments at the Colgate Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia, and as the Wheat First Endowed Chair at James Madison University. He has managed small- and mid-cap value portfolios for Heartland Advisors and Kemper Scudder. For the past decade he has been a highly regarded lecturer at the Federal Reserve Bank of the United States of America and is a well-known author and speaker in the Discovery Investing world. He is co-developer of the Discovery Investing Scoreboard software which ranks companies relative to their discovery potential. He publishes Morning Notes which discusses geopolitical, technological and economic trends and their effect on capital markets, and identifies opportunities in the area of natural resources, high technology, infrastructure development and biotech.
Mr. Hilditch is President, Chief Executive Officer and a Director of Terraco Gold Corp., a TSXV listed gold exploration company focussed in the western United States. He is a Director of Sama Resources Inc., a TSXV listed base metals company focussed in West Africa, and was its President and Chief Executive Officer until 2010. Until 2010, Mr. Hilditch was President, Chief Executive Officer and a Director of Salares Lithium Inc., which was acquired by Australia based Talison Lithium Limited, the world's largest lithium producer and a TSE listed company. He is also a Director of Bryant Resources Inc. Mr. Hilditch is the President and owner of Rock Management Consulting Ltd., a private mining management services and consulting company. Over the past 18 years, Mr. Hilditch has been responsible for significant capital raising, negotiating, acquiring and the directing of all other aspects of managing a public company. He holds a Bachelor of Science Management degree (finance concentration) from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York State.
John R. Kerr, B.Sc.
Mr. Kerr holds a B. Sc degree in Geological Engineering, from the University of British Columbia (1964). Over the course of a career of more than 45 years he has been continuously engaged in mineral exploration and has extensive field experience throughout North America. Mr. Kerr has been a geological consultant since 1970 and has held senior positions with a number of public companies, both as an officer and director. He has been involved with the discovery and development of a number of significant mineral deposits, including two producing mines and two additional projects currently awaiting production decisions.
Tracy Stevenson, B.S. Accounting, C.P.A.
Mr. Stevenson has been a director of Quaterra Resources since June 2007 and Non-Executive Chairman since 2008. He is also a director of Vista Gold Corp. and is a founding member of Bedrock Resources LLC, a private financial advisory services firm. Mr. Stevenson is a senior mining executive who worked for Rio Tinto for 26 years. He held many senior positions in the Rio Tinto group including Global Head of Information Technology, Global Head of Business Process Improvement, and Chief Financial Officer and a director of two of Rio Tinto's major operating companies, Kennecott Corporation and Comalco Aluminium Ltd. Mr. Stevenson holds a B. Sc. Accounting from the University of Utah, is a CPA, and spent four years with a predecessor of the firm PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP.
Anthony (Tony) Walsh, C.A.
Mr. Walsh has more than 20 years experience in the field of exploration, mining and development. He was President and Chief Executive Officer of Miramar Mining Corporation from 1999 to 2007 when it was sold to Newmont Mining Corporation. From 2008 to 2011, Mr. Walsh was President and CEO of Sabina Gold & Silver Corp., and from 1989 to 1992 was Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice-President, Finance of International Corona Resources Ltd., a gold producer. He is currently Chairman of Stornoway Diamond Corporation and serves as a director of several other public companies, namely, Sabina Gold & Silver Ltd., Dunav Resources Ltd. and Avala Resources Ltd. Mr. Walsh graduated from Queen's University (Canada) in 1973 and became a member of The Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1976.
Roy Wilkes, P.Eng
Mr. Wilkes retired as president of Washington Group International's Mining Business Unit. As leader of this group he participated in many developing mining projects throughout the world, including Latin America, Canada, Europe and the United States. Mr. Wilkes was the Chief Operating Officer of Santa Fe Pacific Gold Corporation during the expansion of its Nevada operations. He has been involved in the development of such projects as Greens Creek, Alaska; Stillwater, Montana; and Las Pelameres in Chile, while serving as Senior Vice President of Business Development for Anaconda Minerals. Mr. Wilkes is a graduate mining engineer from the Montana School of Mines.
